This is a vision of a #plasticfree future, where designers and retailers are using natural materials and new biomaterials to create unparalleled shopping experiences.

More than that it’s a clarion call to the world’s packaging designers to abandon #petrochemical plastics in favour of sustainable materials and embrace the circular economy.

In 2018 there is no greater issue than the tsunami of plastic pollution which has engulfed our oceans. By focusing on designing without plastics, designers and packaging technologists can eliminate plastics before they even go on shelf.

We will be sharing some of the major breakthroughs seen across Europe in the first half of 2018, including some hot off the press information provided exclusively for this conference by campaign group A Plastic Planet.

The key takeaways

1) An understanding of the burgeoning industry of biomaterials for pack design.

2) A vision of retail informed by eminent futurists from the US and UK.

3) A call out to packaging designers to be at the leading edge of sustainability.
