Helping individuals to think about their life playfully and with optimism "Life, just like a design problem, is full of constraints such as time, money, age, location, and circumstances. We cannot have everything. If we want more, we have to be creative about how to make what we need and what we want co-exist. This requires design thinking." - Ayse Birsel Author of Design The Life You Love, published by Ten Speed Press, and co-founder of the award-winning design consultancy, Birsel + Seck, Ayse Birsel tells the story of how she applied her design process to her life, her most important project, as an experiment, and discovered that most of us also want to be the designers of our own lives. Using constructive metaphors, playful tools and optimistic visualizations, she draws from concepts in fields as diverse as fashion, design, art and gastronomy-looking to the work of creative thinkers such as Issey Miyake, Ferren Adria, James Dyson and Steven Jobs.
“What took design so long to tackle the most important of all projects? It took Ayse Birsel, a designer who knows how to find elegant solutions for complex issues not only when it comes to products, but also when it comes to everybody's search for serenity, inspiration, and fulfillment in life." - Paola Antonelli, senior curator of architecture & design, the Museum of Modern Art Design the Life You Love
