“Understanding people before design” has been a mantra since early in Dan’s career. He continued beyond design to study ergonomics and biomechanics—developing innovative ways to understand people using quantitative and qualitative methods while drawing on knowledge from a wide array of disciplines. Importantly these methods are design-actionable, proving to have positive impact on people’s lives.
Dan consults with companies worldwide on design and innovation. He co-founded two collectives to help understand people, 4B (design and gender) and Brainpool (adding metrics to design). He also co-founded the Master’s in Branding program at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York.
